Life as we know it- Are we lost in this conundrum?

Harder the work, whether greater the yield or not;definitely greater the satisfaction. And greater the satisfaction, harder the effort you put in and this is how the vicious circle of life continues-working hard to multiply satisfaction with the hope that it will yield something bigger and better, after all as humans we eye on begetting perfection and this is how we shall continue to exist !!! So now the real question is are we losing grip to our own lives just because we are striving to live our lives the way what we typically know of or should we chose to live an atypical life-which might be so skewed that we might be called a hippie,weirdo, moronic or even an alien,but then we wouldn't have to chase for neither satisfaction nor perfection!! I wish there was a simple answer to this.
